2018 Golden Globe solo round the world yacht race: Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, winner of the first Golden Globe Race in 1969 presents Jean-Luc Van Den Heede with the International Cape Horners Association flag. Jean-Luc Van Den Heede and his Rustler 36 MATMUT crossed the finish line at 10:12 to win the 2018 Golden Globe Race, off les Sables d'Olonne France today The 71-year old Frenchman and his yacht MATMUT completed the 27,000 mile race in 211 days 23 hours 12 mins 19 seconds - 100 days faster than Knox-Johnston's SUHAILI in 1969

Presentation of Cape Horners burgee to Marc Slats, second in the 2018 Golden Globe Race

2018 Golden Globe solo round the world yacht race: Dutch skipper Mark Slats receives the International Cape Horners Association burgee from Race Chairman Don McIntyre at the finish of the 2018 Golden Globe Race in Les Sables d'Olonne, France in 2nd place. The 41-year old Dutchman completed the 27,000 mile solo circumnavigation in 214d 12h 18m 43s. A 36 hour time penalty for improper contact over the Sat Phone by his team manager, gives Slats a race finish time of 216d 00h 18m 43s.
